How to play
Draw a shield divided into four squares with a banner across the top and another across the bottom, and give everyone a copy along with pens and coloured pencils. Explain what goes where. The top banner is the family name, the bottom banner a family motto, and the four squares are a family holiday destination, a drawing of the family, the family home and a favourite family activity. Give younger groups that structure to follow. Older groups can be left to fill their shield however they like. Allow 10 to 20 minutes of quiet individual work, then gather everyone together to share and explain their shields. The sharing is where the real value is.
